Summary of the Forum:

　“China Venture Capital Forum 2004” was organized by China Venture Capital Institute and sponsored by Shenzhen Municipal Government. Theme of the forum was “-Iinteract With The World”. It was held at Shenzhen Wuzhou National Guest House on the 2nd and 3rd of April, 2004. There were 56 renowned scholars and senior government officials from China and overseas delivered speeches at the conference. With rich contents, compact and creative planning, the forum brought togather over 700 participants which had doubled the number of attendants in the Forum of 2003. China Venture Capital forum 2004 was a successful event which had received international attention attracted talents all over the world.

　　The forum is well organized to include many valuable topics. Besides the thematic forum of Venture Capital and Technology Innovation, there were 10 other sections, namely, Venture Capital and University S&T Industrialization, Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists, Hi-tech Development and Capital Market, World Venture Capital Investment Models, Venture Capital in China- Risks and Challenges, Global Science Parks-Catalyst for Technology Innovation, “Overseas Venture Capitalist’s Investment Strategies in China, Concerns on Policy and Law and Cooperation Framework for Overseas Venture Capitalists to Enter China Market, Entrepreneurs vs. Venture Capitalists-Typical Cases, and Invest vs. Exit. There was a special interactive Q&A Session chaired by Dr. Gongmeng Chen, Managing Director of the China Venture Capital Institute, where guest speakers were invited to answer questions from the audience. During the session, valuable points and different perspectives were shared and discussed, thus providing the audience with a fresh understanding of venture capital industry. At the end of the conference, Professor CHENG Siwei, Vice Chairman of THE Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China delivered a wrap-up speech and pushed the event to a climax.

　　Senior government officials such as Mr. WANG Zhaolin, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Province Political Consultative Conference, Mr. SONG Hai, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. CHEN Mingde, Vice Chairman of CNDCA, Mr. LI Hongzhong, Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. LIU Yingli, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, Mr. ZHANG Jing’an, Directorof Department of Policy, Regulation & System Reform and representative of Science and Technology Ministry presented warmly greetings to the forum. Mr. Eliezer Moody Sandberg, Minister of Israel Ministry of Science and Technology, Professor LIU Hongru, former Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission, Professor Chung-kwong Poon, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Mr. Jean-Bernard Schmidt, Chairman of European Venture Capital Association delivered interesting speeches.

　　Mr. Dixon Doll, Managing director of Doll Capital Management, Mr. HE Guojie, Director of GDVCA, Mr. CHEN Wei, Director of SZVCA, Mr.GU Liji, Chairman of CMST, Professor LIU Manhong, Renmin University of China, Mr. WANG Xuewei, Director of Shenzhen Science & Technology Agency, Mr. CHEN Weidong, Chairman of CVCRI, Mr. WANG Shouren, Secretary General of SZVCA and other outstanding scholars presided the sections. This forum had attracted 20 top international VC experts, more than 20 China leading practitioners and 4 famous entrepreneur elites and 125 investment managers coming from US, Europe, Israel, Singapore and the South-East Asian countries, about 400 managers of China venture capital industry, 120 representatives from news media and intermediaries as well as more than 100 government officials and specialists.
