Nigel Burton is General Manager of the organization responsible for Microsoft’s partnership with software companies and developers across the Greater China Region. Microsoft has always depended on strong relationships with other software companies. The value of Windows or Windows XP is much greater if other companies are building great software that takes full advantage of the platform. During his 17 years experience of working with the software industry, Nigel has supported the growth of hundred’s of Software Companies within Asia, the US and the UK. His relocation to China represents a deep Microsoft commitment to help Chinese Software companies build world-leading applications. In addition to managing Microsoft relationships with ISV’s, Nigel has held other senior management posts with the company. Prior to coming to China, Nigel Burton was the general manager of Microsoft’s U.S. “Small and Mid-market” marketing organization, driving a large sales and marketing organization to address 7 million US companies. He managed Microsoft’s “bCentral” online portal in late 90’s, and subsequently served as general manager of U.S. Marketing at Microsoft Business Solutions, which includes the businesses of Great Plains®, Microsoft bCentral? and Navision a/s. Before joining Microsoft in 1989, Burton was chief executive officer of Dialogue Software Inc., one of the earliest software companies in the United Kingdom to create applications for the Windows® operating system. His education includes the study of microprocessor design and development at the University of Sunderland in England. . |
