Dr. Rutledge served on the faculties of Tulane University and Claremont McKenna College, where he taught monetary economics. He controls for more than 100 million investment capital; in 1978; Dr. Rutledge founded the Claremont Economics Institute，during this time, he has an active lecture practice ，giving talks on global economics, financial markets, investment strategies in many country. Dr. John Rutledge was one of the principal architects of the Reagan economic plan in 1980-81 and has been an advisor to the Bush White House on tax policy.He has testified before Congressional Committees and has advised government officials in the US , UK , Ireland , and Kuwait .

Dr. Rutledge appears weekly on Fox News' Saturday morning business shows Forbes on Fox and Cavuto on Business .
